I was diagnosed with CLL seven months ago and am still in the watch and wait stage. I am considering relocating to Taunton where I expect to be treated at the Musgrove. Has anyone any experience of the level of expertise at this hospital as I have no knowledge of this area?

Hi,
I have no knowledge of this hospital. But this may be of some interest to you: I only recently found out that under the current NHS rules, that as long as you are prepared to travel, you can nominate the hospital you wish to be treated at.

Hi Swainson,
That is interesting. I currently live in Surrey where the amount of money available for drugs and treatment appears to be good. The current discussion of the postcode lottery regarding medical treatment makes me curious regarding the Musgrove. How good are the consultants and how far does the funding have to stretch? My condition at the time of treatment (and if I am admitted which would require my wife and family to travel approximately 150 miles to visit me in my current hospital) influence any choice. The Musgrove has very good reports but I prefer to have "hands on" information from patients who have been treated there.

Hi All, I used to live in Taunton but it was before being diagnosed with CLL. However, I did have treatment there for other things as did my ex husband and I found it very good (not keen on my present one in Colchester). It is basically in two parts, the new buildings at the front and the old ones behind, covers a very large area. I was actually treated for suspected cancer of the uterus and was very lucky it turned out to be non malignant, from my symptoms it was not expected to be. The specialist was really kind and very informative and so were the nursing staff. Hope that helps.
