Cardiff CLL Open Day 2012, Saturday 13 October 2012

From LLR:

“Now is a really exciting time as the pace of research is accelerating and new and better treatments for blood cancer patients are being developed all the time.Join us in Cardiff in October to learn about the progress in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) the most common form of leukaemia and how research and clinical trials are improving the outcome for patients.

Meet our CLL scientists and specialist doctors from around the UK, who will be on hand to answer questions about the latest research into the biology and causes of this blood cancer and learn about the latest trials and treatments.

You’ll also have the chance to see live laboratory demonstrations of new drugs in development and learn about the genetic screening programmes that are helping to personalise treatments for patients in the future.

Come along to meet fellow supporters, blood cancer patients and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research scientists, doctors as well as our friendly staff. Please note that we have a limited number of places for this event. Register early to avoid disappointment.”

We are going to this, even though it's a long way from Lincolnshire. The reason is that we have been wondering whether to ask for referral to a CLL Specialist for a while now. My husband had his FCR treatment at our local hospital in Lincoln and it went well, he is seen every three months by the Haemotologist. However, in view of the fact that this is a progressive illness, we don't know if it would benefit him to be seen by a CLL Specialist - does anyone have any views on this? If any of you are going to the event please post on here and maybe we can meet up while there.

Hi smreynard

I am attending the day and have heard from quite a few around the country who will be there. Great to read your husband responded well to his FCR treatment. maybe you can ask others on the day. I'm surprised people haven't commented, we did have a lengthy thread discussing this fairly recently I will see if I can find it.

Found it; under general discussions/ CLL Specialist / Hospital in UK
