Dear all

My mum was diagonsed with CLL earlier this year and her white blood cell counts have continued to drop slowly but steadily. She is currently on 'watch and wait' and has never before received chemotherapy.

She has checkups at the hospital in Haverfordwest (Pembrokeshire)every 3-4 months or so, but has become increasingly unhappy with the level of care and advice that she is receving so much so that she recently went to BUPA for a general health check up. This has now revealed that the CLL is having an impact on her red blood cell count and therefore it may possible that she may now at some stage need treatment.

My question is whether any one can recommend a CLL specialist doctor in Cardiff or the Wales area whom she could ask for a referral and would be able to provide the regular care and support she needs?

My parents live in a somewhat remote location and local health services are very slow to respond. We have lost confidence in the way that this is being dealt with.

Thanks in advance for all your help. I just want to do all I can to ensure she has the right support.

Best wishes everyone

One of the foremost experts is in Cardiff, he should at least be able to let you know the nearest expert from Pembroke. He is Prof. Chris Fegan and you can find the details by putting his name into a search engine.

Good luck
